What Theme Will I Be Exploring This Year?

There are many themes that we have covered this year so far: Discussing who had made the universe in the Sacred Realm, who will be in control of our freedoms in Politics and the Social Order, stories passed down through generations in Stories and Histories, etc. And though all of those themes having fairly interesting elements included in them, they are not any of the themes I, personally, would like to work with. The theme that interests me the most is the theme of "who are we?" which ties into "Daily Life". I would love to work with realistic stories that cover topics that real people are dealing with; Mental illnesses, confusion, stress, all of the above. Many films have already dealt with some of these topics (examples: Love, Simon , Words On The Bathroom Walls , Euphoria , etc.), but I would love to see more movies where they discuss various types of things that could be going on in someone's life.

Film has become much more inclusive as years have gone on, but to be honest, we still aren't where we should be when it comes to the "diversity" factor. Many movies that have come out in the last decade have pretty much the same plot, characters, and motive. The writers, directors, producers, and everyone on crew wants their audience to feel like they can eventually find the person of their dreams, or go to their dream college, or remain friends with someone they've known their entire life. But all those elements are just not realistic. What I want my future films to include is things that are realistic and are recognized by the people who may be going through the same thing(s). Writers and directors take so much time creating the same film over and over again by having the same stereotypical characters (the main character with anxiety, the gay best friend, the attractive popular guy who wants to follow his own dream, the mean girl, etc.), but can instead add new and more realistic characters to their movies. When's the last time you've seen a show where the main character is a person of color, has a mental disorder that is almost never touched upon (like ADHD), doesn't have any friends, does like their family, and doesn't want to go to college? Or what about a movie with multiple characters who are all completely different and seem incompatible but work out in the end? Overall, movies and shows have done an okay job when it comes to being diverse, but they can do so much better. That's why I want my films to feel like they were inspired by real stories, real people, and real situations, and also have realistic characters that could possibly motivate others to think about who they truly are and what kind of person they want to be.
